How to schedule YouTube Shorts (YouTube Studio and tools)

Updated Oct 9, 2026

YouTube does not have a separate Shorts scheduler: you schedule a Short like any video, and YouTube decides it is a Short from its shape and length. Here is how to do it, and how to get it right the first time.

How to schedule a Short in YouTube Studio

  1. 1

    Upload the video

In YouTube Studio on a computer, click Create, Upload videos, and choose a vertical or square video under three minutes.

  2. 2

    Fill in the details

Write the title and description, and answer the “made for kids” and altered or synthetic content questions.

  3. 3

    Choose Schedule

On the Visibility step, choose Schedule instead of Public, then pick the date and time.

  4. 4

    Save

Click Schedule. The Short stays private until the time you set, then goes public on its own.

What makes a video a Short

A video that is vertical (9:16) or square and no longer than three minutes is classified as a Short automatically. There is no checkbox. Adding #Shorts to the title or description is not required. If a vertical video under three minutes lands as a regular video, check its exact dimensions: a few pixels wider than tall turns it horizontal.

Scheduling from the YouTube app

The mobile app lets you set visibility when uploading a Short, and on many accounts you can schedule from there too. YouTube Studio on a computer is the most reliable place to schedule and change the time later.

Titles and descriptions for Shorts

Unlike TikTok, YouTube is also a search engine. The title (up to 100 characters) and the description help YouTube understand the video and show it in search and in suggestions. Use the words people would type: “how to fold a fitted sheet” beats “this changed my life”. The first three hashtags in the description appear above the title.

Scheduling Shorts with a tool

If your Shorts are the same clips you post on TikTok and Reels, scheduling them in three places is repetitive. PostingClips uploads them through YouTube's official API at the time you set: the title comes from your automation's name, the clip's idea or the file name, the AI-written caption becomes the description, and the same clip can go to the other networks with their own captions. Clips with AI-generated footage are flagged with YouTube's synthetic-media disclosure.

  • 9:16, 1080 × 1920, under 3 minutes
  • Title up to 100 characters, description up to 5,000
  • New channels: verify your phone number to lift upload limits
