Free caption generator for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
Describe your video in one sentence, pick the platform and the tone, and get three different captions with a hook and hashtags, sized for that platform. Free, no sign-up.
How to use the caption generator
- 1
Describe the video
Write what happens in the clip and who it is for, in a sentence or two. Concrete details (a place, a number, a result) make better captions than general topics.
- 2
Choose the platform and tone
TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, X or LinkedIn, and a tone from casual to promotional. The length and style follow the platform.
- 3
Copy the one you like
You get three captions with different hooks. Copy one as it is, or combine the first line of one with the hashtags of another.
What makes a good short-video caption
On TikTok, Reels and Shorts the video does most of the work, but the caption decides two things: whether someone who paused keeps watching, and whether the platform understands what the video is about. The first line is the one people actually read, so it has to add something the first second of video does not already say: a question, a promise or a detail that makes the end worth waiting for.
After the hook, one or two short sentences are enough. Say what the viewer gets, or ask them something they can answer in a comment. Then a few hashtags that describe the topic precisely. Long paragraphs are cut off behind a “more” link on every short-video platform, so anything important belongs in the first 100 characters.
Each platform wants something different
The same caption pasted everywhere is the most common mistake. TikTok rewards a casual, direct voice; Instagram works with a little more warmth and a clear call to save or share; YouTube Shorts uses the text to understand and surface the video, so plain, searchable words help; X allows only 280 characters, so one sharp line and at most two hashtags; LinkedIn wants a concrete, professional angle and almost no hashtags.
That is why the generator asks for a platform: the limit, the number of hashtags and the voice change with it.
- TikTok: up to 2,200 characters, but the first line matters most
- Instagram Reels: up to 2,200 characters, 3 to 5 precise hashtags
- YouTube Shorts: the description, with words people search for
- X: 280 characters including hashtags
- LinkedIn: up to 3,000 characters, professional tone, few hashtags
Is it safe to use AI-written captions?
Yes, as long as you read them before posting. The generator does not invent prices, discounts or facts that are not in your description, but you know your product and your audience better than any model does. Treat the result as a strong first draft: keep the hook that sounds most like you and adjust the details. The platforms do not penalise text written with AI; they penalise captions that promise something the video does not deliver.
Tips for better captions
- Start with the most surprising detail, not with the brand name.
- Ask one question people can answer in a word or two: comments help reach.
- Use the same keywords someone would type to find the video.
- Write a different caption for each network instead of pasting the same one.
- Keep emojis to one or two; they should add meaning, not decoration.
Doing this for every post?
In PostingClips you do not copy captions by hand: when you post a clip on several accounts, each one gets its own caption written for that network, in your language and within its limit, and the posts go out at the times you set.

Is the caption generator really free?
Yes. You can use it without an account, a few times a day. A free PostingClips account gives you more tries per day. There is no card to enter and nothing to install.
Which languages does it write in?
It writes in the language of the page you are on (English, Romanian, Italian, French, Spanish, German or Portuguese). If you describe the video in another language, it usually follows your description.
Why are there daily limits?
Each caption is written by an AI model, which costs money every time. The limits keep the tool free for everyone and stop automated abuse.
Can it write hashtags only?
Use the hashtag generator for that: it returns up to 20 tags for your topic, from specific to broad, ready to copy.
Do you keep what I type?
Your description is sent to the AI model to write the captions and is not saved with your name or used to train models. Don't enter personal data in the box.
